Development Project Engineer
The Development Project Engineer is responsible for supporting design, preconstruction, and construction activities across assigned projects. This role requires close collaboration with contractors, designers, engineers, commissioning agents, vendors, facilities teams, operations staff, and corporate real estate stakeholders. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential for frequent interaction with these groups.
Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned)

Support development leadership and project managers with daily activities.

Assist in managing multiple projects, ensuring budgets, schedules, and status reports remain accurate and up to date.

Prepare monthly program and project updates suitable for executive-level review.

Collaborate with internal stakeholders, design teams, and construction partners to deliver master development plans, including campus-wide design solutions and capital budgets.

Assist with entitlement and permitting requirements for active projects.

Help prepare scopes of work for design, construction, and commissioning services; support procurement processes and cost estimates.

Review and evaluate proposals to ensure accurate pricing and scope alignment.

Work with procurement teams on equipment sourcing and delivery logistics.

Ensure submittals are reviewed and coordinated with appropriate stakeholders.

Track budgets and compare cost-to-date against overall project forecasts.

Review project schedules and help ensure teams deliver on time.

Evaluate contractor change order requests and assist in negotiating pricing.

Support the creation of site construction security procedures.

Build and maintain relationships across project stakeholders and act as liaison between teams.

Represent organizational interests in project meetings.

Contribute to due diligence efforts related to potential land acquisitions or property development opportunities.

Participate in the development and monitoring of entitlement and permitting processes.

Work with internal teams to enhance project management processes and best practices.
Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field; or equivalent professional experience.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including PowerPoint (executive-level reporting) and Excel (budgeting and cost tracking).

U.S. Citizenship required where federal customer contracts apply.
Preferred Qualifications

One or more years of professional experience in commercial construction, including Lump Sum, Construction Management at Risk, and Design-Build delivery methods.

Experience or exposure to mission-critical or large-scale facility projects.

Familiarity with management of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) trades.
